Discontinuance Of DSC
A Digital Signature Certificate or DSC is a safe digital key issued by the certifying authority to approve and affirm the identity of the individual holding this certificate. It utilizes the open key encryption to make the signatures.
DSC Class-2 are issued to the directors/signatory specialists of the organizations with the end goal of e-filing with the Registrar of Companies (ROC). Class 2 certificate is compulsory for people who need to sign manual records while filing of Returns with the Registrar of Companies.
With effect from 1st January, 2021, issuance of new Digital signature certificate, Class-2 shall be discontinued and only DSC, Class-3 will be issued to Government and private departments. However, the existing/already issued/downloaded Digital signature certificate, Class-2 till 31st December, 2020 shall remain valid till its expiry. Apart from this, following are the key changes that will take effect from 1st January, 2021:
– Government user will be required to do video verification.
– Issuance of digital signature certificate, Class-3 will be paperless.
– DSC, Class-3 will be used for Income Tax, GST fillings, ROC fillings etc.
– The downloading time limit of digital signature certificate, Class-3 shall be within 30 days of approval.
